Harutoki Ide

Harutoki is sociable enough to offer the parakeet to friends but wary of its reputation for bringing accidents. He recognizes Chad’s kindness and expects him to care for an animal others reject.

The manga provides little further individual characterization. Harutoki remains an ordinary teenager reacting to supernatural events he cannot understand.

Harutoki is an ordinary Human with no demonstrated spiritual perception or combat powers. He cannot see the Hollows responsible for the apparent accidents around him.

His survival depends on Chad’s intervention when falling debris and unseen attacks threaten the group.

Harutoki brings the parakeet inhabited by Yuuichi Shibata to Chad after other potential owners refuse it. A steel girder falls toward the group, but Chad catches it before anyone is crushed.

He later walks with Chad and Gitano Shigeo while they search for inexpensive food. When Bulbous G attacks, Chad pushes both friends to safety and draws the Hollow away.

Yasutora Sado is Harutoki’s friend and repeated protector. Gitano Shigeo accompanies them during both early incidents.

Yuuichi Shibata inhabits the parakeet Harutoki passes to Chad, though Harutoki does not know the child’s identity.
