Haruka Kamijou

Haruka is competitive, disciplined and intimidating, with little patience for Luke's more foolish behavior. She embraces the nickname Tiger and approaches martial arts, music and Dueling with the same expectation of rigorous training.

Her sternness toward Luke masks genuine concern for him. She is pleased to see that Rush Dueling has given him friends and something he enjoys, even though she rarely expresses that affection in a conventionally gentle way.

Haruka is also capable of accepting defeat gracefully. Rather than searching for excuses when someone surpasses her, she reflects on the result and recognizes the strength of a worthy opponent.

Haruka is an accomplished martial artist who has trained since childhood. Her physical strength allows her to handle her enormous bassoon with ease and incorporate exaggerated martial-arts movements into her musical performances.

She studies woodwind instruments partly because controlled breathing complements her martial-arts training. This produces her distinctive combination of music and combat, with instruments treated almost like extensions of martial-arts weapons.

Her WIND Warrior Deck follows the same concept. Music Maiden monsters such as Brassax Knuckle the Melee Music Maiden, Trumpetonfa the Stabbing Music Maiden and Flutomahawk the Axe Music Maiden combine instruments with weapons, while Bassoon Finger the Divine Music Oni serves among her strongest monsters.

Haruka enters the story when Luke's friends learn more about his older sister and the unusual combination of martial arts and music that defines her. Her overwhelming record against Luke explains why even his considerable confidence disappears when she is involved.

She challenges Yuga after becoming concerned about the direction in which Rush Dueling is taking Luke. Their match gives Yuga an opponent who combines physical discipline with a carefully developed WIND strategy.

Yuga defeats Haruka, but she accepts the loss and comes to recognize the positive effect his friendship and Rush Duels have had on Luke. She subsequently becomes a recurring ally and participates in later conflicts affecting Goha City.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister is Haruka's younger brother and longtime rival. Haruka has repeatedly defeated Lucidien "Luke" Kallister in martial arts and Dueling, but she also cares deeply about his development and is glad that he has found genuine friends.

Yuga Ohdo becomes one of Haruka's most important Rush Duel opponents. Her encounter with Yuga Ohdo helps her understand why her brother has become so attached to Rush Dueling.

Asana Mutsuba is one of Haruka's friends and fellow formidable female duelists. Haruka later supports Asana Mutsuba during conflicts involving Goha 6th Elementary.
