Hai Yin

Hai Yin is fiercely loyal, emotional and outspoken. She reacts strongly whenever Li Mu is threatened or insulted and places his safety above political calculations.

Her early life in Ganmon makes her hostile toward passive responses to Xiongnu attacks. Meeting Li Mu initially produces conflict because his defensive strategy appears cowardly to someone desperate to avenge people lost in raids.

Over time, understanding the purpose behind his methods transforms that anger into profound respect and devotion.

Hai Yin is an accomplished swordswoman and cavalry officer. Her role as Li Mu's bodyguard requires her to remain close enough to protect one of Zhao's most important commanders during dangerous campaigns.

She also develops into a field commander capable of leading her own soldiers. Her strengths include speed, mounted combat and the practical experience accumulated through numerous campaigns.

Her earliest military education comes from the harsh Ganmon frontier, where Zhao soldiers face highly mobile Xiongnu cavalry.

Hai Yin's canonical backstory begins in Ganmon, where she initially opposes Li Mu's refusal to waste soldiers in futile battles against numerically superior Xiongnu raiders.

She later appears throughout the main series as one of his closest followers, accompanying him at Bayou, during diplomatic missions, the Coalition invasion and subsequent wars against Qin.

As Zhao's internal politics turn against Li Mu, Hai Yin remains with him even when following him places her in opposition to the royal court. She later participates in the battles against Huan Yi and Qin's renewed invasions.

Li Mu is Hai Yin's commander and the central person in her life. Her loyalty to him develops from their years together in Ganmon.

Liao Diao He develops a complicated friendship with Hai Yin despite their service to opposing states.

Fu Di is a fellow member of Li Mu's inner circle and frequently interacts with Hai Yin.

Xin is one of the Qin commanders Hai Yin repeatedly encounters through the wars between Qin and Zhao.
