Gilda

Gilda is quiet, mature and highly perceptive. She quickly realizes that Emma is hiding something and pays close attention to changes in the behavior of the older children.

She is naturally caring and frequently looks after younger siblings. Although introverted and sometimes nervous, Gilda becomes surprisingly forceful when someone she loves is threatened.

Her practical temperament balances the more impulsive personalities around her. She considers risks carefully and often serves as a stabilizing presence within the group.

Gilda has no supernatural abilities. Her strongest assets are intelligence, observation and reliability.

She performs well on Grace Field's academic tests and becomes one of the group's capable planners. Life outside the farm adds practical survival skills, including cooking, gathering, weapons handling and caring for younger children.

Later, Gilda is trusted with independent missions, including the search involving Mujika and Sonju, showing how far she has developed from the cautious girl at Grace Field.

Emma and Norman initially consider whether Gilda might be Isabella's informant because she has noticed their unusual behavior. Their suspicions prove misplaced.

Gilda and Don are eventually told a partial version of the truth and join the escape plan. After discovering that Emma, Norman and Ray have concealed important details from them, they demand to be treated as genuine partners.

Gilda escapes Grace Field with the older children and becomes one of the group's most dependable caregivers and field members. She survives the journeys through the demon world and continues supporting Emma's effort to save the remaining farm children.

Emma is one of Gilda's closest siblings. Gilda admires her determination but is also willing to challenge her when Emma takes unnecessary risks.

Don is Gilda's closest working partner throughout much of the story. Their contrasting personalities make them an effective team.

Norman initially withholds the full truth from Gilda and Don but later relies on both as important members of the family.

Ray works with Gilda throughout the escape and the family's later survival efforts.

Isabella raises Gilda at Grace Field and initially regards her as one of Plant 3's higher-quality children.

Ayshe travels with Gilda during the mission connected to finding Mujika and Sonju.
