Gel

Gel is composed, serious and difficult to provoke. She generally observes the Zodiacs' arguments without matching the louder personalities around her, but her calmness should not be mistaken for passivity.

She reacts sharply to Pariston Hill's provocations. When he casually proposes being installed as chairman without an election, Gel transforms her arm into a snake and places it close to him, making her opinion of the suggestion unmistakable.

Within the Zodiacs' informal political divisions, Gel is grouped with Kanzai and Saccho Kobayakawa in the liberal/apolitical faction.

Gel is an accomplished Hunter whose specialties are poison, pharmacology and forensic medicine. Her position as a Poison Hunter indicates extensive expertise in toxins and their effects, while her work as a coroner and pharmacist gives her complementary knowledge of anatomy, medicine and chemical compounds.

She can transform one or both arms into large snakes. The exact mechanics of this ability, including its Nen category and formal name, have not been revealed. She demonstrates it while threatening Pariston during a Zodiac meeting.

Gel's selection for the Dark Continent expedition's science team reflects the practical value of her medical and toxicological expertise in an environment expected to contain unknown organisms, diseases and other biological hazards.

Gel is introduced as one of the Zodiacs assembled after the death of Chairman Isaac Netero. She participates in the meetings determining how the Hunter Association will select its next chairman.

During the election, Gel remains part of the Zodiac leadership dealing with Pariston's maneuvering and the Association's internal politics. After Cheadle Yorkshire becomes chairman, Gel continues serving among the organization's senior Hunters.

When the Association becomes involved in Kakin's planned voyage toward the Dark Continent, Gel joins the expedition's science team. Her medical and poison expertise is intended to help the expedition deal with the extraordinary biological dangers expected beyond the known world.

Isaac Netero selected Gel as one of the Zodiacs, the group of Hunters who frequently trained and sparred with him.

Cheadle Yorkshire serves alongside Gel among the Zodiacs and later leads the Hunter Association.

Pariston Hill repeatedly frustrates the other Zodiacs with his political maneuvering. Gel openly threatens Pariston Hill with her transformed arm after one particularly provocative suggestion.

Kanzai and Saccho Kobayakawa are Gel's fellow Zodiacs and belong to the same liberal/apolitical grouping within the organization.
