Daphne

Daphne is hyperactive, theatrical, eccentric, and relentlessly enthusiastic about promoting her inventions. She initially behaves like an aggressive television salesperson, repeatedly trying to convince visitors to sample her Metamo-chan diet product even when they are interested in something entirely different.

The playful behavior masks an obsessive side. Daphne has spent years pursuing the idea of artificial dragons after witnessing a real dragon in childhood and being ridiculed when nobody believed her.

She values experimental results above the well-being of other people. Her artificial creatures are released into inhabited areas for data collection, and she is willing to manipulate Dragon Slayers into powering a machine without their consent.

Daphne uses Concealment Magic, including techniques related to Hidden. Hidden Darkness lets her conceal herself in a shadow-like state, while Hidden Cage creates an isolated illusory space that victims cannot easily escape.

Her greater strength is engineering. Daphne creates artificial dragon-like creatures, copying Lizardmen, and the Dragonoid.

The Dragonoid is a huge mechanical dragon capable of flight and powered by the Magic Power of a Dragon Slayer trapped inside it. Its systems regulate magical absorption to avoid overloading the machine.

Daphne's Lizardmen can copy the appearance and general abilities of opponents, although they lack the originals' experience and can be defeated by exploiting those differences.

Daphne appears after a rumor reaches Fairy Tail that someone nearby has seen a dragon.

Natsu and Wendy investigate because they are searching for Igneel and Grandeeney. Daphne admits the reported sighting was bait intended to attract a Dragon Slayer.

Gray Fullbuster then appears to cooperate with Daphne, apparently betraying Fairy Tail while helping her capture Natsu.

Gray's betrayal is a deception. He works with Daphne because of a promise connected to the City Without Sound and intends to create the circumstances needed for Fairy Tail to destroy the Dragonoid and undo Daphne's magic.

Daphne places Natsu inside the Dragonoid and uses his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic as its power source.

Fairy Tail attacks the machine in Magnolia, deliberately provoking Natsu until his Flames of Emotion produce more magical energy than the Dragonoid can safely process. Gajeel Redfox destroys part of the core, allowing Natsu to escape and defeat Daphne.

Natsu Dragneel is Daphne's primary target because she needs Dragon Slayer Magic to power the Dragonoid.

Wendy Marvell accompanies Natsu while investigating Daphne's fabricated dragon sighting.

Gray Fullbuster appears to collaborate with Daphne, although his cooperation is ultimately part of a plan to undermine her.

Gajeel Redfox damages the Dragonoid and helps free Natsu.

Igneel is indirectly responsible for Daphne's defeat because Natsu's bond with his foster father fuels his emotional response to her artificial dragon.

Grandeeney is one of the missing dragons whose disappearance makes Daphne's bait effective on Wendy.
