Damayaji

Damayaji is relatively mild compared with many of Hao's more violent followers. His interest in photography reflects a genuine appreciation for natural beauty, ruins and unusual sights, qualities that help attract Hao's attention to him.

He is fond of food and drink, particularly king crab, and forms an appropriately unusual partnership with his crab spirit. Although he follows Hao, he is not portrayed with the intense ideological devotion seen in several of the organization's stronger members.

Damayaji possesses 2,000 Furyoku, placing him among the weaker combatants associated with Hao. His Guardian Ghost is the nature spirit of a red king crab, with which he shares an affinity.

His supernatural sensitivity predates his formal involvement with Hao. As a photographer, he could capture spirits in photographs even though his shamanic combat ability was comparatively limited.

Damayaji can form an Over Soul with his crab spirit. The spirit provides offensive capability, but his limited Furyoku leaves him badly outmatched against the stronger shamans participating in the tournament.

Damayaji works as a photographer of ruins and monuments before joining Hao. Hao takes an interest in him partly because Damayaji appreciates the natural world and recruits him into his growing community of shamans.

He travels with Hao's followers during the journey toward Patch Village. During the confrontation involving Boris Tepes Dracula, Damayaji is killed by Boris, who drains his blood and uses it to strengthen his vampire-themed Over Soul.

Damayaji's brief role helps establish that Hao's followers vary enormously in strength and temperament. After his death, Damayaji and his crab spirit pass on together rather than remaining among the combatants surrounding the Shaman Fight.

Hao Asakura recruits Damayaji after recognizing both his spiritual sensitivity and his appreciation for nature.

Boris Tepes Dracula is one of Damayaji's fellow members of Hao's group. Boris ultimately turns Damayaji into a source of blood for his own abilities and kills him.

Brocken Meyer is another senior member of Hao's community with whom Damayaji travels as part of the larger group of followers.
