Chris is curious, cheerful and direct. He enjoys being around his siblings and readily expresses what he thinks rather than remaining quiet.

He is also considerate and strongly attached to his family. Even as one of the youngest escapees, he tries to think about other people rather than focusing only on his own fear.

His curiosity remains one of his defining characteristics after leaving Grace Field.

Chris has no supernatural abilities. At Grace Field he participates in the standard educational and physical routines for children in Plant 3.

He later learns basic wilderness and shelter skills alongside the other young escapees. His role is primarily supportive because his age limits how much dangerous field work he can perform.

After leaving Grace Field, Chris becomes increasingly accustomed to gathering supplies and living without adult caretakers.

Chris is among the five-year-olds brought into the escape plan after the older children decide that everyone capable of surviving the journey should be told the truth.

He escapes Plant 3 and reaches Shelter B06-32 with Emma's family.

During Andrew's assault on the shelter, Chris is shot in the head and left in a coma. He survives, but his condition becomes a major concern for the family, which needs specialized medicine to keep him alive.

Chris eventually awakens after the children reach the human world.

Emma treats Chris as a younger brother and remains committed to protecting him.

Ray is another older sibling with whom Chris is comfortable and affectionate.

Anna helps care for Chris after he is gravely wounded during the shelter attack.

Andrew shoots Chris during the raid on Shelter B06-32, causing the injury that leaves him comatose.

Isabella raises Chris as his Mama at Grace Field House.
