Charlotte Roselei

Charlotte is disciplined, proud, responsible, and accustomed to keeping her emotions under strict control. As captain of the Blue Rose, she projects an intimidating professionalism and has little tolerance for behavior that compromises a Magic Knight's duties.

Her greatest difficulty maintaining that image occurs around Yami Sukehiro. Charlotte secretly loves him but becomes flustered whenever he approaches the subject or behaves casually around her. Her internal panic contrasts sharply with the distant expression she attempts to maintain.

Charlotte's independence developed partly from an unwillingness to rely on someone else to solve her problems. After being afflicted by a childhood curse, she trained obsessively in hopes of breaking it through her own strength. The curse was ultimately broken when she fell in love with Yami, fulfilling the condition hidden within it.

Charlotte possesses Briar Magic, allowing her to generate and manipulate thorn-covered vines. She can use them offensively as whips and binding weapons, defensively to intercept attacks, or across wide areas to restrict an opponent's movement.

As a Magic Knight captain, Charlotte has considerable magical power, refined mana control, physical ability, and combat experience. Her signature techniques include Corpse-Hunting Briar Tree, which spreads a large network of thorns through the battlefield.

After studying Mana Method in the Heart Kingdom, Charlotte learns to use arrays and True Briar Magic. She also develops Queen of Briars, a form specifically designed to exploit the curse affecting her magic and convert it into greater strength against curse users.

Charlotte appears early among the Magic Knight captains and represents the Blue Rose at major gatherings and military operations. She participates in the defense of the Clover Kingdom and is selected for the Royal Knights assault on the Eye of the Midnight Sun.

During the elf reincarnation crisis, Charlotte's body is possessed by the elf Charla. Yami battles Charla without initially realizing who is inhabiting Charlotte's body, and Charlotte regains control after the reincarnation spell is undone.

Charlotte later joins the forces preparing to fight the Spade Kingdom. Her improved Briar Magic becomes particularly important in the battle against Vanica Zogratis and Megicula, where she suppresses curse-based power across the battlefield.

Yami Sukehiro is Charlotte's longtime romantic interest. Yami's intervention during the manifestation of Charlotte's curse helped trigger the condition that broke it, and Charlotte has loved him since that event. Her attempts to conceal those feelings are frequently undermined by her reactions around him.

Sol Marron is one of Charlotte's most devoted subordinates and openly idolizes her. Charlotte values Sol but does not share her subordinate's blanket contempt for men.

Charla is the elf reincarnated within Charlotte during the elf conflict. The two share Briar Magic, although Charla's version manifests differently from Charlotte's curse-affected blue roses.

Vanica Zogratis and Megicula become major opponents during the Spade Kingdom conflict, where Charlotte's anti-curse techniques help restrict their power.
