Bear King is domineering, arrogant, possessive, and convinced that superior strength entitles him to take whatever he wants. He treats Clockwork Island's inhabitants as subjects and shows little tolerance for resistance.
His attitude toward Nami is similarly possessive after he decides that he wants her as his bride.

The Kachi Kachi no Mi allows Bear King to harden his body, greatly increasing his durability and the force of his physical attacks.
He combines this ability with substantial natural strength. His hardened body can also become extremely hot, making direct physical contact dangerous.

After the Straw Hats arrive, his forces seize Nami and the Going Merry, forcing the crew to fight through the Trump Pirates' officers. Luffy ultimately defeats Bear King and ends the Trump Pirates' control over the island.
