The anime introduces Ayame prominently in episode 21, "Until the Flowers Bloom." Chinatsu spends time at Karen's home, where Ayame appears as an explicit contrast to Chinatsu's much more reserved handling of romance. Megan Taylor Harvey voices Ayame in the English-language version of the anime. Her animated portrayal belongs primarily to the second half of the first season, which aired through March 2025.

That fifth-place result came despite Ayame entering substantially later than the central trio and Kyou. Shueisha's official voting page identified her primarily through two traits—being Karen's younger sister and serving as badminton manager—showing that her more extensive personal storyline was still developing when the poll was conducted.

Her prominence increased as the manga shifted more attention toward her relationship with Kyou. By volume 17, Shueisha's dedicated character material no longer described her only as a supporting manager; it explicitly highlighted her romantic history, her support of Hina, and her attraction to Kyou as defining elements of her profile.

The anime similarly elevated her into the main ensemble during its second cour. She was included in the second major key visual as a new character positioned beside Taiki and later appeared on the final home-video volume with the four established central students.
