Andy

Andy is fearless, vulgar, impulsive, and initially obsessed with finding a method capable of permanently killing him. Immortality has removed the ordinary instinct to protect his body, so he readily tears off limbs, destroys portions of his own head, throws himself into lethal attacks, or allows enemies to mutilate him if doing so produces a tactical advantage. His first interest in Fuuko is similarly practical: her Unluck creates disasters powerful enough that he believes sufficiently intense affection might eventually produce something capable of killing him.

Despite his violent behavior, Andy is unusually direct about loyalty and responsibility. Once he decides someone is a companion, he places himself between that person and danger without hesitation. He apologizes when he recognizes that he has acted wrongly and generally dislikes manipulation that denies another person the right to make their own choice. His relationship with Fuuko gradually brings this side forward, replacing his fixation on dying with increasing concern over what she wants from life.

Andy also possesses far more patience and practical experience than his behavior initially suggests. Having lived for centuries, he has accumulated knowledge of fighting, weaponry, travel, survival, and numerous professions. He can shift almost instantly from crude joking to precise tactical analysis when battle begins.

His apparent recklessness also becomes increasingly complicated as his past is uncovered. Andy exists alongside the much older personality Victor, whose understanding of Undead and memory of previous cycles of the world vastly exceed Andy's own. Rather than simply being the same man under another name, Andy develops as a distinct identity with his own attachments, values, and interpretation of immortality.

Andy's Negator ability is Undead, a self-targeting ability that negates his own death. His body automatically regenerates from virtually any wound because any physical state that would lead to death is rejected. Decapitation, destroyed organs, dismemberment, blood loss, and enormous bodily trauma therefore become temporary inconveniences rather than fatal injuries. The official anime profile explicitly defines his ability around his immortal body and his ability to regenerate individual body parts at extreme speed.

Andy has spent years learning how to weaponize regeneration. Parts Bullet fires a fingertip by rapidly regenerating bone and flesh behind it, turning the severed digit into a projectile. Crimson Bullet improves the concept by incorporating blood and more forceful regeneration. He can propel himself through the air by ejecting blood, cut opponents using pressurized blood, leave pieces of his body behind for tactical purposes, and regenerate from specific points to alter his momentum.

His most common weapon is a katana, and centuries of accumulated experience make him an extremely capable swordsman even without Undead. He routinely combines sword strikes with regeneration-based movement, allowing him to take openings that a conventional fighter could never risk. His pain tolerance is effectively limitless because suffering has no lasting relationship with survival.

A card embedded in his forehead suppresses access to another personality. Removing it allows Victor to emerge. Victor is the original bearer of Undead and possesses vastly greater experience with its applications, including more refined regeneration, division of his body into independent attacks, and techniques developed over repeated cycles of the world.

Andy later expands his understanding of Undead from the simple regeneration of flesh to the persistence of his soul. By recognizing his soul as part of the self that cannot die, he becomes capable of operating through it independently of his physical body, extending his presence and attacks far beyond the limitations of conventional regeneration.

Andy first encounters Fuuko as she prepares to end her life after completing her favorite manga. Her accidental physical contact triggers Unluck, immediately attracting Andy because he believes the ability could produce the death he wants. Fuuko names him Andy, and the two flee together when Union operatives arrive to capture them. The anime's opening episodes establish this partnership directly: an immortal man seeking death and a girl whose touch generates lethal misfortune become targets of the organization that regulates Negators.

After fighting Void Volks and Shen Xiang, Andy learns that the Union's Round Table has a limited number of seats and that joining it can stop the organization from hunting them. The pair therefore begin fighting existing members to create openings for themselves. The official Shueisha character material identifies Void as the former No. 9 whose defeat gives up a Round Table seat.

Within the Union, Andy and Fuuko are assigned quests involving UMAs and other Negators. Missions against Spoil, Autumn, and the organization Under broaden Andy's objective beyond simply finding an entertaining way to die. His knowledge and combat experience repeatedly make him one of the Union's most dependable frontline fighters. Shueisha's collected-volume summaries place Andy and Fuuko together through the Autumn capture and the expanding conflict with Under.

The investigation into Andy's memories reveals Victor's existence and the history linking Victor with Juiz. Fuuko enters Andy's memories to understand the man beneath centuries of violence, while Victor attempts to remove her because he believes Andy's emotional attachment to her weakens him. Andy ultimately asserts himself as a separate person rather than merely Victor's temporary surface identity.

When Ragnarok approaches, Andy learns that his Undead ability allows him to survive the destruction and reconstruction of Earth without using the Ark. Fuuko instead uses Ark to enter the next loop, while Andy endures the intervening astronomical span directly. This separates the two for an enormous period while Fuuko begins rebuilding the Union in Loop 101.

During the 101st loop, Andy eventually returns after spending vast stretches of time restraining the Master Rules and preparing for Fuuko's new Union. His role changes from the man who once wanted Fuuko's Unluck to kill him into one of the strongest defenders of the future she is trying to create.

Fuuko Izumo is Andy's partner and the most important person in his life. He initially follows her because Fuuko Izumo's Unluck may be capable of killing him, but their relationship becomes increasingly personal as they fight together. Andy encourages her to live after years of isolation, while she gives him reasons to value experiences other than death. The official franchise consistently presents the two as its central "Undead × Unluck" pairing.

Victor is [the original personality associated with Andy's immortal body and the ancient bearer of Undead. Victor possesses memories and experience unavailable to Andy and initially treats Fuuko as a threat to the mental balance that keeps him suppressed. Their relationship eventually develops into an acknowledgment that Andy has become a genuine individual rather than merely an artificial obstacle.](#spoiler)

Shen Xiang is one of the first Union members Andy fights. Shen Xiang quickly becomes interested in Andy and Fuuko's strange partnership and recommends that they seek Union membership instead of continuing to run. The official Shueisha profile specifically notes Shen's interest in their relationship.

Gina Chamber first encountered Andy decades before the main story and helped capture him. Gina Chamber later develops romantic feelings for him and calls him "Dead-chin"; official Shueisha material identifies her as the woman who captured him fifty years earlier.

Tatiana becomes one of Andy and Fuuko's trusted Union companions. Andy's blunt manner differs sharply from Tatiana's emotional sensitivity, but he treats her as a genuine teammate rather than a weapon defined by her Negator ability.

Chikara Shigeno is a younger Negator whom Andy and Fuuko help bring into the Union. Andy recognizes Chikara Shigeno's usefulness in combat but does not pressure him into abandoning his ordinary life without making his own decision.

Akira Kuno, acting through the identity Anno Un, becomes crucial to Andy and Fuuko during the Autumn mission. [Akira Kuno's knowledge of possible future events gives the pair information necessary to change outcomes that had previously seemed predetermined.](#spoiler)

Billy Alfred becomes one of Andy's most dangerous human opponents after the conflict between Union and Under begins. Andy respects Billy Alfred's strength while rejecting his belief that saving the world requires carrying every burden alone.

Rip Tristan repeatedly fights Andy as part of Under. Rip Tristan's Unrepair is particularly dangerous to an opponent whose entire combat system depends on regeneration, making their battles unusually difficult for Andy.
