Tokyo Ghoul

Akira Mado

真戸暁

Story Role

Akira enters the original series after Kureo’s death and introduces herself to Amon as his new subordinate. Their pairing reverses part of Amon’s earlier position: he must now work with the daughter of the man who trained him while carrying guilt over surviving their last operation together.

During the investigation into Akihiro Kanou, Akira tracks activity around one of the doctor’s properties and fights Aogiri members using Amatsu. Naki injures her during the operation, exposing the limits of technical control against a physically powerful ghoul.

Her partnership with Amon becomes increasingly personal. Akira’s guarded resentment surfaces during a night of drinking, but so does her dependence on him. By the Owl Suppression Operation, she fears losing Amon and Takizawa as she previously lost her parents.

Both men are declared dead after the operation. Akira receives a promotion and is assigned to mentor Haise, unaware that Amon and Takizawa survived as subjects of artificial-ghoul experiments.

In Tokyo Ghoul:re, Akira supervises Haise and the Quinx Squad while leading the Mado Squad. She contributes to investigations involving Torso, Nutcracker, Aogiri Tree, and the auction operation, balancing administrative command with field combat.

The Rushima operation reunites her with Takizawa and Amon in their altered states. Akira protects Takizawa from Mutsuki and is critically wounded, after which Goat and allied physicians save her. Her recovery among ghouls leads to direct reconciliation with Hinami and a final separation from the CCG’s ideology.
