Aed

Aed is affectionate, familiar, and comfortable teasing Lucy. When she returns home after a long absence, he remarks on how much she has grown and jokes that she has probably already had romantic experiences while away.

Like the other senior servants, he clearly considers Lucy part of his own family. The formal employer-servant relationship is secondary to the affection built over years of living together.

Aed is also curious enough to join the other servants in listening through the door during Lucy's farewell conversation with her father.

No magic, weapon, or combat training is established for Aed.

His known professional skill is cooking. He serves as a chef for the Heartfilia Konzern and is consistently shown dressed in the clothing associated with that role.

The series does not identify him as a mage.

Aed appears when Lucy returns to the Heartfilia estate during the Phantom Lord arc. He hears Spetto's excitement and comes to greet Lucy alongside the other household staff.

Later, Aed joins the servants in secretly listening as Lucy speaks with Jude Heartfilia and formally rejects the life he wants her to return to.

When the Heartfilia Konzern is later sold after Jude's financial collapse, Aed and the other servants are forced to leave the estate and seek new employment.

Lucy Heartfilia is the member of the Heartfilia family Aed treats with the greatest visible affection.

Jude Heartfilia is Aed's employer and head of the Heartfilia Konzern.

Spetto is a fellow servant who helps greet Lucy when she returns.

Ribbon serves the same household as librarian and joins Aed and the other servants during Lucy's return.
