Abuto

Abuto is comparatively relaxed and rational for a Yato warrior. He understands his species' attraction to powerful opponents but dislikes seeing Yato needlessly kill one another, making him unusually protective of his dwindling people.

He approaches life as a succession of questions with right and wrong answers, believing that a person should accept the consequences of the choices they make. This philosophy gives him a fatalistic calm even when facing opponents capable of killing him.

His loyalty to Kamui is exceptionally strong. Abuto complains about Kamui's recklessness and openly recognizes his faults, yet continues following him because he regards standing beside his captain as his own chosen answer.

Abuto is an elite Yato fighter with tremendous strength, speed and durability. His age and experience give him a more measured fighting style than many younger Yato, allowing him to assess opponents rather than relying entirely on instinct.

During the Yoshiwara conflict, he fights Kagura and Shimura Shinpachi simultaneously. He initially dominates the battle through raw physical superiority and experience.

When Kagura loses herself to the Yato instinct, her strength increases dramatically and she nearly kills Abuto. Shinpachi stops her, and Abuto later repays the act by preventing Shinpachi from falling to his death.

Abuto continues fighting effectively after losing his left arm, demonstrating both Yato resilience and extensive adaptation to combat.

Abuto accompanies Kamui to Yoshiwara as part of the Harusame 7th Division. He attempts to prevent the confrontation between Kamui and Housen, reflecting his reluctance to watch powerful Yato destroy one another.

His intervention costs him his left arm, but he remains Kamui's vice-captain. During the battle beneath Yoshiwara, he fights Kagura and Shinpachi and witnesses Kagura's suppressed Yato instincts emerge.

Abuto becomes increasingly important during the Rakuyou conflict, where his loyalty is tested by Kamui's deteriorating state and the Harusame's internal struggle.

He cooperates with Umibouzu despite Kamui's hostility toward his father, prioritizing Kamui's survival over blind obedience. He later helps Kagura and others restrain Kamui when the latter loses himself completely to his Yato instincts.

Kamui is Abuto's captain and longtime comrade. Abuto understands Kamui's destructive impulses better than most and remains loyal even while repeatedly criticizing him.

Kagura becomes Abuto's opponent in Yoshiwara. He later develops respect for her and treats her as another Yato whose survival matters.

Shimura Shinpachi fights beside Kagura against Abuto. After Shinpachi prevents Kagura from killing him, Abuto later saves Shinpachi from falling.

Umibouzu is a legendary fellow Yato whom Abuto respects despite Kamui's hatred toward his father.

Housen is another senior Yato whose confrontation with Kamui Abuto attempts to stop.

Kada attracts Abuto's interest, and he openly remarks that the Peacock Princess is his type.
