Youko Kuramori

Youko is caring, practical and concerned about her husband's safety. She does not romanticize private detective work and believes especially dangerous cases should be handled by professional police units.

Her warnings are motivated by affection rather than contempt for Shirou's occupation. Seeing him return home injured reinforces her concern that his investigations may eventually expose him to more danger than he can handle.

Her role within the family is also practical. She provides much of the household's income while sharing family responsibilities with Shirou.

Youko is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities.

She has no ability to detect Parasites and no established combat training.

Her knowledge of Shirou's work is limited, and she does not initially understand the extraordinary nature of the case that has begun consuming his attention.

Youko is introduced at home with Shirou Kuramori, where she notices an injury he has sustained and urges him to stop taking unnecessary risks.

Shirou's investigation gradually brings him into contact with people and organisms far more dangerous than the ordinary subjects of private detective work.

Parasites retaliate against Shirou's investigation by attacking his home while he is away. Youko and her daughter Yumi are killed, transforming Shirou's professional interest in the case into a grief-driven desire for revenge.

Shirou Kuramori is Youko's husband. She cares deeply about him but worries that his investigative work places him in unnecessary danger.

Yumi Kuramori is Youko and Shirou's daughter.

Kusano and Hikawa are the Parasites associated with the retaliatory attack on the Kuramori household.
