Yoshikuni XI

Yoshikuni is relaxed, friendly and comfortable around the exorcists who visit her forge. She lacks the intimidating demeanor one might expect from the custodian of a centuries-old blacksmithing tradition.

She is particularly informal with Ryuuji, calling him "Ryu-chan" and readily discussing embarrassing stories from their childhood. Her teasing suggests a long-standing familiarity rather than hostility.

Yoshikuni nevertheless takes her craft seriously. She understands the limitations of the techniques available to her generation and warns Rin that Kurikara cannot simply be repaired indefinitely.

Yoshikuni is an exceptionally skilled blacksmith with specialist knowledge of demon weapons. Her family has maintained a craft tradition connected with the Myōō Dharani for generations.

When conventional materials prove insufficient for repairing Kurikara, she identifies the need for iron infused with spiritual power. The original technique for producing such metal has been lost, forcing the group to locate surviving material created through the old process.

Using ancient spiritually empowered temple nails, Yoshikuni successfully repairs Kurikara. Her expertise is technical rather than supernatural combat ability, but it is indispensable to Rin.

Yoshikuni appears after Kurikara is damaged during Rin's battle with Amaimon. The group travels to Kyoto in search of someone capable of repairing the demon sword and is directed to the Yoshikuni family.

She determines that the sword can be restored if suitable spiritually infused iron can be found. Ryuuji remembers old temple nails forged through the same lost process, providing the necessary material.

Yoshikuni repairs Kurikara but warns that another break may be impossible to fix. She later investigates the unusual weapons distributed during the anime-original conflict surrounding Operation Jacob's Ladder and warns Ryuuji about their blood-draining nature.

Yoshikuni exists only in the 2011 anime continuity.

Ryuuji Suguro is Yoshikuni's childhood friend. She affectionately calls him "Ryu-chan" and embarrasses him by recalling that he once wanted to marry her.

Rin Okumura depends on Yoshikuni's craftsmanship after Kurikara is damaged.

Amaimon's battle with Rin creates the damage that brings Kurikara to Yoshikuni's forge.
