Yoshifusa

Yoshifusa is socially conventional and strongly influenced by the city's communal beliefs. Rather than questioning the sacrifice, Yoshifusa treats it as a legitimate custom that knowledgeable residents are expected to obey. This attitude allows Yoshifusa to speak about Shijima's selection with apparent admiration while disregarding the violence underlying it.

When Azumi objects, Yoshifusa becomes defensive and practical, warning that interference will accomplish nothing and may lead to arrest. The response suggests that preserving social order matters more to Yoshifusa than confronting the morality of the ritual.

Yoshifusa demonstrates no supernatural powers or combat abilities. The character's principal advantage is privileged knowledge of the city's secret customs, including the true purpose of the Pesca Princess ceremony and the expectations imposed on those aware of it.

Yoshifusa helps reveal that the conspiracy surrounding Shijima is communal rather than the work of a single antagonist. At the festival, Yoshifusa confirms that established residents know what will happen and regard compliance as a duty.

By defending the ceremony and insisting that Shijima was fortunate to be chosen, Yoshifusa embodies the normalization of sacrifice through euphemism, tradition, and collective approval. The confrontation also isolates Azumi, showing that rescuing Shijima requires him to oppose not only a supernatural entity but an entire community.

Azumi — Yoshifusa is initially part of Azumi's school social circle but becomes an opponent of his rescue attempt. Yoshifusa urges him to accept the custom and warns him against disrupting it.

Shijima — Yoshifusa describes Shijima admiringly and treats her selection as a prestigious honor. This professed support contrasts with Yoshifusa's acceptance of the danger imposed upon her.
