Yomi

Yomi is calculating, disciplined and politically ambitious. His youthful recklessness has largely disappeared by the time he becomes one of the Three Kings, replaced by a willingness to wait decades or centuries for favorable conditions.

He values intelligence as much as raw strength. Yomi surrounds himself with strategists, monitors changes in the balance among the kings and attempts to secure Kurama's loyalty because he remembers how effective Kurama was as a leader.

Fatherhood introduces another side of him. His relationship with Shura gradually draws out genuine affection and gives Yomi concerns beyond political supremacy.

Yomi is an Upper S-Class demon and one of the strongest beings in Demon World. His demonic energy, physical strength, durability and speed place him in the same broad tier as Raizen and Mukuro.

Although blind, Yomi's six ears provide extraordinary auditory perception. He can distinguish extremely subtle sounds and monitor activity at ranges impossible for ordinary beings, making his blindness far less limiting than it initially appears.

Yomi is also capable of generating powerful energy attacks and defensive barriers. His fighting style combines overwhelming demonic power with the patience and tactical judgment acquired over centuries.

Yomi summons Kurama back to Demon World as the balance among the Three Kings begins collapsing. Their shared history gives Yomi leverage, but it also revives unresolved issues from their days as thieves.

Kurama eventually admits that, centuries earlier, he arranged the attack that blinded Yomi because Yomi's reckless raids endangered their entire band. Yomi had survived the assassination attempt and spent centuries becoming stronger and more disciplined.

Yomi prepares for war with Mukuro after Raizen's position weakens, but Yusuke proposes a tournament to determine Demon World's ruler instead.

Yomi enters the tournament and eventually faces Yusuke in an exhausting battle. He narrowly wins their match but is left so depleted that he loses in the following round. The experience, together with his relationship with Shura, softens his obsession with conquest.

Shura is Yomi's artificially created son. Although initially conceived partly as an asset, Shura becomes someone Yomi genuinely loves and wants to raise.

Kurama was once Yomi's leader and later becomes his strategist after returning to Demon World. Their relationship carries the hidden history of Kurama having arranged the attack that blinded Yomi.

Raizen is one of Yomi's two great political rivals among the Three Kings.

Mukuro is Yomi's other rival and the ruler against whom he expects to wage war once the balance among the kings collapses.

Yusuke Urameshi challenges the political structure Yomi has spent centuries preparing to dominate and later fights him in the Demon World Tournament.

Shachi serves as Yomi's longtime military second-in-command before Kurama's return.
