Yasuda

Yasuda is a serious and experienced competitor. Having remained in Class B for several years, he approaches promotion tournaments with considerably more experience than many of the younger players attempting to advance.

The story gives little information about his personality away from the tatami. His importance comes from how difficult he is to defeat and from the pressure his experience places on Chihaya during a match with direct consequences for her competitive rank.

Yasuda is one of the stronger Class B players encountered during Chihaya's promotion effort. Three years spent at that level have given him substantial tournament experience and make him a more difficult opponent than his rank alone might suggest.

During his match with Chihaya, the two repeatedly send the "Chihayaburu" card between their territories. The exchange turns a single card into a tactical and emotional focal point without replacing the broader need for accurate, controlled play.

Yasuda's established strength makes defeating him meaningful: Chihaya cannot enter Class A merely through enthusiasm or reputation but must beat a veteran player who is also trying to earn promotion.

Yasuda appears during Chihaya's push to reach Class A. Her ambition to become Queen requires competing at the highest class, making promotion an essential early step rather than simply another tournament result.

He becomes her strongest opponent in that progression. Their match tests whether Chihaya's speed and attacking instincts are developed enough to overcome a player with substantially more experience at the Class B level.

Chihaya defeats Yasuda and earns promotion to Class A. The achievement gives her access to stronger competition, but her subsequent experiences quickly demonstrate that promotion is the beginning of another stage rather than proof that she has reached elite title level.

Chihaya Ayase faces Yasuda in the decisive stage of her effort to reach Class A. Their match becomes especially memorable because Chihaya Ayase and Yasuda repeatedly exchange the "Chihayaburu" card before she ultimately secures promotion.
