Yagami

Yagami carries herself with the composure expected of a wealthy noblewoman and is accustomed to receiving exceptional service. Her reputation makes hosts terrified of displeasing her before she has even arrived.

Despite the rumors surrounding her, she is not simply a malicious customer looking for excuses to destroy businesses. Much of the danger comes from the extraordinary economic consequences of satisfying or disappointing someone capable of spending such enormous amounts of money.

She also has enough experience with hosts to recognize artificial charm. This makes the frantic attempts to impress her particularly ineffective when they lack sincerity.

Yagami has no established supernatural abilities or combat training. Her power is economic and social.

Her wealth is so great that a successful visit can produce extraordinary profits for an establishment. Conversely, her reputation suggests that businesses unable to satisfy her can face financial ruin, producing the contrasting titles Goddess of Fortune and Goddess of Death.

This influence makes her more intimidating to the host-club employees than a conventional fighter would be, since physical strength offers no solution to the problem she presents.

Yagami appears during the Host Club arc when the club Takamagahara prepares for one of her visits. With its regular hosts unavailable, Kyoujirou Honjou needs replacements capable of entertaining her.

The resulting emergency pulls Sakata Gintoki, Toushirou Hijikata, Isao Kondou and other unlikely substitutes into host work. Their attempts to satisfy Yagami become increasingly chaotic as her fearsome reputation overwhelms their ability to behave naturally.

Yagami consequently functions as the catalyst for the arc rather than a conventional antagonist. Her presence creates the pressure under which the improvised hosts repeatedly sabotage themselves.

Kyoujirou Honjou is connected to Yagami through Takamagahara, whose fortunes depend heavily on providing her with satisfactory service.

Sakata Gintoki, Toushirou Hijikata and Isao Kondou become involved in entertaining Yagami when the host club requires emergency replacements.
