Tecchin Tecchikawahara

Tecchin combines the authority of a village elder with an eccentric and playful personality. He welcomes Tanjiro Kamado warmly and quickly demonstrates that he understands the frustrations caused by Hotaru Haganezuka's volatile behavior.

He cares deeply about the swordsmiths under his protection. Despite his position, he does not remain emotionally distant from individual craftsmen and understands both their skills and their peculiarities.

Tecchin also appreciates exceptional craftsmanship. His ability to forge Mitsuri Kanroji's unusual blade reflects both technical confidence and willingness to create weapons tailored to a swordsman's highly unconventional fighting style.

Tecchin is not shown fighting demons and has no established Breathing Style. His expertise is advanced swordsmithing.

As village chief, he oversees craftsmen responsible for Nichirin weapons used throughout the Demon Slayer Corps. Producing such weapons requires knowledge of Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Ore as well as the ability to tailor individual swords to their wielders.

Tecchin personally forged Mitsuri's exceptionally thin, flexible Nichirin blade. The weapon behaves more like a whip than a conventional katana and is considered extremely difficult to handle without injuring oneself.

Tecchin meets Tanjiro after the young swordsman travels to the Swordsmith Village because Haganezuka has refused to forge him another sword.

He explains Haganezuka's temperament and reassures Tanjiro that the village will deal with the swordsmith if necessary. His scenes also establish the hierarchy and communal structure of the hidden settlement.

During the Upper Rank assault, Tecchin becomes one of the vulnerable noncombatants whose survival matters to the Corps. The attack demonstrates that destroying the village would severely compromise the Demon Slayers' ability to replace damaged Nichirin weapons.

Hotaru Haganezuka was raised under Tecchin's care and is one of the village's most talented but difficult craftsmen. Tecchin understands his personality well and readily acknowledges the problems Haganezuka causes.

Mitsuri Kanroji wields the unusual Nichirin sword Tecchin personally forged for her.

Tanjiro Kamado meets Tecchin after arriving at the Swordsmith Village to resolve his continuing problems with Haganezuka.

Kozo Kanamori is one of the swordsmiths working within the village Tecchin leads.
