Takimaru

Takimaru is earnest, disciplined, polite, and strongly influenced by the Gourmet Knights' belief in gratitude toward food and nature. He treats eating as something carrying moral responsibility rather than simple consumption.

He can nevertheless be stubborn and highly competitive in battle. Once he commits to an opponent, Takimaru repeatedly attempts to understand the target's anatomy and identify a decisive structural weakness rather than abandoning the fight.

His devotion to Aimaru is considerable. Aimaru's teachings provide Takimaru with both his Routines and the philosophy through which he manages pain, fear, and physical hardship.

Takimaru also forms genuine friendships outside the Gourmet Knights, particularly with Toriko, Komatsu, and Match during the Century Soup expedition.

Takimaru uses a martial art based around manipulating joints, bones, and skeletal structures. His anatomical knowledge allows him to identify vulnerable points and attack them with extreme precision.

Bottle Opener Shot grips and twists part of an opponent's body to dislocate bones and joints, potentially causing paralysis or death. Bottle Opener Shot: Secret Technique Cork Screw is a more severe application capable of forcing a bone completely out of the body.

Pre-Shot Routine is a mental sequence taught by Aimaru. By visualizing successful execution and performing a preparatory routine, Takimaru dramatically increases concentration, precision, and resistance to distraction. The drawback is that completing the routine requires time.

Takimaru's endurance is extraordinary. During Ice Hell he continues fighting after receiving injuries that would incapacitate ordinary people and maintains concentration even while suffering attacks to vital regions.

Like Aimaru, he later demonstrates the results of extreme Gourmet Knight training involving years of isolation, fasting, and physical exertion.

Takimaru meets Toriko and Komatsu at Bar Heavy Lodge while responding to the Century Soup expedition commissioned for Ice Hell.

During the journey he works alongside the Gourmet Yakuza and other hunters before the expedition is attacked by Bishokukai personnel.

Takimaru's principal battle is against Boogieyuz, whose bizarre skeleton initially makes joint-based martial arts ineffective. Takimaru studies his opponent while enduring severe punishment.

He eventually realizes that Boogieyuz's sacrum remains structurally important despite the thousands of extra bones and joints in his body. Targeting that weakness allows Takimaru to neutralize much of his opponent's mobility.

Takimaru is critically injured during the fight, and Teppei subsequently helps stabilize and treat him. He remains associated with the Gourmet Knights and participates in the larger conflicts surrounding the Human World.

Aimaru is Takimaru's mentor and leader. He teaches Takimaru Routines and previously helps suppress the Gourmet World disease affecting him.

Toriko becomes Takimaru's ally and friend through the Ice Hell expedition and later events.

Komatsu befriends Takimaru during the search for Century Soup.

Match fights alongside Takimaru's side in Ice Hell and shares the expedition's survival struggle.

Boogieyuz is Takimaru's principal opponent in Ice Hell.

Teppei treats Takimaru after the devastating battle with Boogieyuz.
