Sumie Kawai

Sumie is kind, quiet and somewhat self-conscious. She performs her work unobtrusively and appears concerned about saying or doing anything inappropriate around the Izumi family.

Her shyness is particularly apparent when she begins talking about something she has seen on television and then becomes embarrassed about bringing it up.

Canon gives little information about her life outside her employment, with her appearances remaining centered on the Izumi household.

Sumie is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities.

Her skills are domestic rather than combat-oriented, and she is employed to maintain the household while Kazuyuki Izumi and Shinichi Izumi deal with major changes in their lives.

She has no knowledge of Migi or any ability to detect Parasites.

Sumie begins working as the Izumi family's housekeeper after Kazuyuki hires someone to assist at home.

When Shinichi returns one day, Sumie informs him that his father is speaking with several visitors. The meeting concerns the authorities' growing investigation into the Parasites, although Sumie herself is not part of that discussion.

She later watches television coverage connected to the strange attack at Shinichi's school and mentions seeing Shinichi on television.

Shinichi Izumi lives in the household where Sumie works. She interacts with him in an ordinary domestic capacity and remains unaware of his relationship with Migi.

Kazuyuki Izumi employs Sumie to work as a housekeeper in the family home.
