Suitsu Andromeda

Suitsu is proud, arrogant and confident that his fashionable business represents the future of Edo's confectionery market. He treats the commercial struggle with Konpeitou as competition rather than showing much concern for the older shop's history or the people who depend upon it.

His attitude reflects the advantage his shop enjoys over its traditional neighbor. The Andromeda store offers fashionable products and attracts modern customers, while Konpeitou's owner has difficulty convincing younger people to value ordinary dango. Suitsu is comfortable exploiting that imbalance.

Suitsu has no established combat abilities or supernatural powers. His relevant strengths are commercial: he operates a new dessert shop capable of drawing customers away from a long-established local competitor.

His Amanto identity is important to the cultural contrast surrounding the episode, but the story does not establish any unusual physical abilities associated with his species. His role concerns business competition rather than fighting.

Suitsu opens the Andromeda dessert shop opposite Konpeitou, an old establishment specializing in traditional dango. The new business quickly attracts customers, placing Konpeitou in danger of disappearing.

Gintoki becomes involved after meeting Konpeitou's Owner and learning about the shop's problems. Kagura and Shimura Shinpachi join the attempt to revitalize the old business, leading to increasingly elaborate efforts to make its traditional products attractive to modern customers.

Suitsu therefore occupies the opposing side of a small-scale story about an old Edo business confronting new Amanto-influenced consumer culture. His shop's success provides the pressure that forces Konpeitou to reconsider how it can survive without completely abandoning its identity.

Konpeitou's Owner is Suitsu's principal business rival. Suitsu opens his Andromeda dessert shop directly across from the older man's traditional establishment and competes for the same customers.

Sakata Gintoki, Kagura and Shimura Shinpachi become indirectly opposed to Suitsu when they help Konpeitou's Owner keep his struggling dango shop in business.
