Stephanie Fou Offrey

Stephanie is arrogant, vindictive and intensely sensitive about social status. Her family acquired noble standing through wealth rather than ancient lineage, leaving her with a strong desire to prove herself equal or superior to established aristocrats.

Her habit of dominating other people is rooted partly in childhood experiences of being ridiculed for her family's origins. After learning that wealth and influence could force former tormentors to submit to her, she came to treat coercion as the safest way to secure respect.

Stephanie nevertheless possesses more complicated feelings toward the people closest to her. Her treatment of Carla Fou Wayne is domineering, but she also trusts Carla with personal matters to a degree she does not extend to most followers.

Stephanie has no major personal combat specialization established during her academy storyline. Her power comes primarily from the Offrey family's wealth, political influence and network of retainers.

She surrounds herself with exclusive servants, using visible displays of wealth to reinforce her social standing. The Offrey household's resources also give her access to people willing to carry out schemes on her behalf.

Her greatest weapon is therefore institutional power. Stephanie understands how easily a wealthy noble household can make life difficult for commoners and lower-ranking aristocrats.

Stephanie appears during the academy festival and targets Olivia, deliberately exploiting her insecurity over being a commoner close to Leon and Angelica. Her actions place renewed pressure on Olivia's friendship with both of them.

Stephanie's schemes extend beyond ordinary school bullying as the Offrey household becomes connected to more serious criminal activity. Leon's intervention exposes how much danger lies behind what initially looks like another conflict between academy students.

The investigation ultimately destroys Stephanie's position. She is stripped of the protections she relied upon and sentenced to exile after the Offrey faction's crimes are uncovered.

Brad Fou Field was Stephanie's fiancé before his devotion to Marie destroyed their engagement.

Carla Fou Wayne is Stephanie's closest follower during the academy festival. Despite treating Carla Fou Wayne harshly, Stephanie trusts her more than most members of her entourage. Carla's eventual rejection deeply affects her.

Angelica Rafua Redgrave is someone Stephanie admires as an ideal noblewoman, even though their circumstances eventually place them in opposition.

Olivia becomes one of Stephanie's principal targets during the academy festival.

Leon Fou Bartfort intervenes against Stephanie's faction when its treatment of his friends escalates beyond ordinary academy hostility.
