Shoui

Shoui is portrayed as one of the corrupt figures operating within the Imperial establishment. His authority derives from social and political rank rather than personal military strength.

The story gives him little independent characterization beyond his position and misconduct. He belongs to the class of Imperial officials whose abuse of power creates demand for Night Raid's assassinations.

His limited role keeps the emphasis on what he represents: a system in which rank and connections can shield officials from ordinary legal accountability.

Shoui has no established Teigu, supernatural ability or notable combat technique.

His influence comes from his title as an Imperial baron. Political standing within the corrupt Empire gives figures like Shoui protection unavailable to ordinary citizens.

Against trained assassins, however, that institutional power offers little direct defense once Night Raid accepts a contract against him.

Shoui appears early in the series as one of the corrupt Imperial figures associated with the conditions Night Raid exists to combat.

His role is brief and primarily establishes the breadth of corruption within the Capital. Night Raid's targets are not selected randomly; the organization acts against officials and elites whose positions protect them from conventional justice.

Shoui is eliminated as part of Night Raid's continuing campaign against corrupt Imperial officials.

Honest presides over the corrupt political system in which Shoui holds his baronial position.
