Personality
Personality
Lu is cheerful, energetic, and outspoken, adjusting remarkably quickly to life at Sakamoto's store despite coming from a dangerous criminal background. She enjoys food, socializing, and teasing the people around her, and her casual attitude toward work regularly irritates the more conscientious Shin Asakura. Their arguments are usually familiar rather than hostile.
Family loyalty is central to her outlook. Lu was raised within a Triad family and takes considerable pride in its history, but she does not share the ruthless ambitions of the criminals pursuing its wealth. The loss and danger surrounding her upbringing leave her with a strong attachment to the people who give her a new home.
Alcohol dramatically changes Lu's emotional state. When intoxicated she cycles rapidly through emotions, and those shifts directly influence her drunken martial arts. Her normally friendly disposition can therefore become considerably more dangerous in combat without erasing the underlying loyalty she feels toward her companions.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Lu is a skilled practitioner of tai chi. She redirects momentum rather than depending entirely on raw strength, allowing her to contend with physically powerful opponents despite her relatively small frame. Her experience growing up around the Triad also means violence and armed attackers are far less alien to her than they would be to an ordinary teenager.
Her most distinctive combat state emerges after consuming alcohol. Intoxication enhances her fighting ability and leads her into a drunken-fist style whose movements change according to her emotions. The resulting unpredictability makes her much harder to read because her rhythm, aggression, and technique can shift abruptly.
Lu remains less overwhelmingly powerful than the elite assassins surrounding Sakamoto, but her martial-arts ability is genuine. She can defend herself against professional killers and was already capable of fighting before becoming associated with Sakamoto's group.
Story Role
Story Role
Lu enters the story while being hunted by assassins seeking a key connected to her family's fortune. Sakamoto and Shin intervene, and the conflict culminates in a confrontation with Son Hee and Bacho, during which Lu demonstrates both her martial arts and her alcohol-enhanced fighting style.
After the immediate threat is resolved, she begins working at Sakamoto's store. This moves her away from the criminal world that defined her introduction and makes her part of the everyday domestic side of the series alongside Sakamoto, Shin, Aoi Sakamoto, and Hana Sakamoto.
Lu remains involved in several early conflicts, including the confrontation surrounding Lu Wutang and the death-row prisoners. As the story increasingly focuses on the JCC, ORDER, and X's organization, she spends more time protecting and working at the store than accompanying Sakamoto into the assassin world's largest battles.
Relationships
Relationships
Taro Sakamoto rescues Lu from the assassins pursuing her and gives her a place at his store. She develops deep trust in him and becomes part of the extended family surrounding the Sakamotos.
Shin Asakura is Lu's coworker and frequent sparring partner in everyday life. They argue constantly over work and behavior but fight effectively together and care about one another as close friends.
Aoi Sakamoto welcomes Lu into the domestic environment of Sakamoto's household, while Hana Sakamoto develops a friendly relationship with her.
Lu Wutang is closely connected to Lu's family and is intensely devoted to protecting her and the Lu clan. His arrival initially creates conflict with Sakamoto's group, but his loyalty to Lu ultimately places him among their allies.
Son Hee and Bacho pursue Lu for the key to her family's vault and become the principal enemies in her introductory conflict.
