Sarukaku

Sarukaku is defined primarily by his devotion to Housen. He reveres the Night King and acts in support of Housen's control over Yoshiwara rather than pursuing an independent agenda.

He is comfortable operating through disguise and deception. His courtesan appearance allows him to move through Yoshiwara without openly advertising his position as one of Housen's operatives.

His interactions with the infiltrating Shinsengumi also display an eccentric side, particularly in the way he responds to Isao Kondou's own courtesan disguise.

Sarukaku is capable of operating as Housen's close aide in the dangerous environment of Yoshiwara and directly opposes intruders working against the Night King's interests.

He uses disguise and covert movement as central parts of his work, concealing himself among Yoshiwara's courtesans while monitoring threats to Housen's rule.

His film role also places him in direct combat against members of the Shinsengumi, establishing him as more than an information-gathering subordinate.

Sarukaku was created specifically for Shin Gekijouban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjou, a new theatrical adaptation that restructures and expands the original Yoshiwara in Flames storyline.

He operates as Housen's aide within Yoshiwara while additional characters absent from the original version of the arc become involved in events. The Shinsengumi enter Yoshiwara as part of an investigation, bringing Sarukaku into direct conflict with them.

His presence gives Housen an additional operative who can act against these newly introduced participants without replacing the original confrontations involving the Yorozuya, Kagura, Kamui and Abuto.

Housen is Sarukaku's master and the object of his intense loyalty and reverence.

Isao Kondou encounters Sarukaku while infiltrating Yoshiwara in disguise, producing an unusual connection between the two disguised men.

Toushirou Hijikata, Sougo Okita and Sagaru Yamazaki become involved in the Shinsengumi operation that brings the organization into conflict with Sarukaku.
