Ryujaku Sakaki

Ryujaku is genial, professional and openly enthusiastic about rakugo. He treats his standing as a shin'uchi with pride without displaying the severe temperament associated with some of the Arakawa judges.

His fondness for ramen supplies a relaxed personal detail: whenever work brings him from Osaka to Tokyo, he looks for an opportunity to eat it.

Ryujaku is an accomplished shin'uchi qualified to evaluate aspiring performers in a major national competition. His comments during the Karaku Cup reflect extensive familiarity with timing, characterization and the relationship between a storyteller and an audience.

The manga has not formally named or described his individual rakugo style. His authority is instead established through his rank, professional base in Osaka and selection as a judge.
