Ralph Niaflem

Ralph is devoted, earnest, and intensely loyal to House Grinberryall. His commitment is rooted in family tradition rather than simple political allegiance; members of his family have protected the Spade royal line across generations.

He is emotional when confronted with evidence that the heir survived. Years spent under the Dark Triad have not weakened his conviction that the legitimate royal family should someday return.

Ralph is also willing to endure extraordinary physical hardship for that goal, crossing the dangerous region between Spade and Clover despite injuries and exhaustion.

Ralph uses Fire Magic, generating and manipulating flames through his Spade grimoire.

His most important demonstrated technique is not primarily offensive. He can use flame-based magic to transmit memories and images, allowing another person to experience events preserved within the spell.

Ralph is also sufficiently durable and skilled to cross a Grand Magic Zone separating kingdoms, although the journey leaves him badly injured and exhausted.

Ralph joins the Spade Kingdom Resistance after the Dark Triad overthrows House Grinberryall. Determined to find the royal heir who was smuggled out of the country, he eventually travels alone toward the Clover Kingdom.

He collapses outside the church in Hage and is taken inside by its residents. When Yuno arrives, Ralph immediately recognizes the resemblance to the Grinberryall royal family.

Ralph reveals that Yuno is the son of King Loyce and Queen Ciel Grinberryall and therefore the prince of the Spade Kingdom. He uses Fire Magic to show Yuno memories of the coup and the circumstances surrounding his escape as an infant.

Ralph later returns to Spade and joins the Resistance during the raid aimed at freeing the country from the Dark Triad.

Yuno is the lost heir Ralph spends years hoping to find. Ralph reveals Yuno's Grinberryall ancestry and addresses him as the prince of the Spade Kingdom.

Loyce Grinberryall and Ciel Grinberryall are the monarchs Ralph's family serves.

Ralph's unnamed father is the royal guard who carries infant Yuno away from the palace during the Dark Triad's coup and delivers him toward safety in the Clover Kingdom.

Dante Zogratis, Vanica Zogratis, and Zenon Zogratis are the rulers Ralph and the Resistance seek to overthrow.
