Peer is serious, dutiful, and strongly respectful of military hierarchy. When soldiers accuse Erwin and Levi of lacking compassion, Peer immediately rebukes them for speaking disrespectfully to their commanders.

He is nevertheless more than a rigid disciplinarian. His repeated placement beside Erwin demonstrates loyalty and personal reliability during dangerous expeditions.

Peer is an experienced Survey Corps soldier with skills in ODM gear, Titan combat, mounted operations, signaling, and field command.

He is trusted to oversee troop deployments and coordinate operations in Erwin's absence, indicating organizational ability beyond ordinary rank-and-file service.

During the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Peer reports that several bodies cannot be recovered. Dieter and Jurgen object, leading to an argument over whether retrieving the fallen justifies endangering the survivors.

Peer later assists during the return to the Walls and warns the formation when Titans approach the wagon train.

During the Stohess operation, he is placed in a command role while Erwin is unavailable. He also participates in the later mission pursuing Reiner and Bertolt.

Erwin Smith is Peer’s commander and the officer he frequently assists.
