Personality
Personality
Paradox is calm, determined, ruthless, and convinced that the scale of his objective justifies destructive methods. He does not behave as though he is pursuing destruction for entertainment; he believes history itself must be changed.
That conviction makes him dismissive of the lives endangered by his actions. Once Paradox decides that Duel Monsters is responsible for future catastrophe, eliminating key people and events associated with the game becomes acceptable to him.
He remains confident even when confronted simultaneously by three accomplished protagonists. His certainty that he understands the future better than they do prevents him from seriously considering their belief that history can develop differently.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Paradox is an accomplished Riding Duelist and time traveler. His technology allows him to move between the eras inhabited by Yusei, Jaden and Yugi and interfere directly with historical events.
He uses a Malefic deck containing corrupted versions of famous monsters stolen from different points in time. These include Malefic Stardust Dragon, Malefic Cyber End Dragon, Malefic Rainbow Dragon and Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
His strongest monsters include Malefic Paradox Dragon and Malefic Truth Dragon. The latter gives Paradox an enormous offensive threat capable of overwhelming conventional monsters through sheer power.
Story Role
Story Role
Paradox first attacks Yusei's era and steals Stardust Dragon before escaping through time. Yusei pursues him and eventually discovers that Paradox's interference extends into the eras of Jaden and Yugi.
His plan focuses on an event involving Maximillion Pegasus, whose importance to Duel Monsters history makes him a key target. Paradox intends to alter the development of the game by changing events surrounding its creator.
Yusei, Jaden and Yugi combine their decks against Paradox in a three-on-one Duel. Despite Paradox summoning increasingly powerful Malefic monsters, the three protagonists defeat him and prevent his attempt to rewrite history.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's later connects Paradox to Z-one, Aporia and Antinomy as one of the survivors working to prevent humanity's catastrophic future.
