Pandemonium

Pandemonium displays enough awareness to react emotionally to Shimura Shinpachi during the eating contest. After an accidental kiss, the creature transforms into an attractive female form, and the scene treats the resulting attraction with exaggerated romantic sincerity.

Its behavior is largely defined by the absurdity of Shinpachi projecting conventional romance onto something that moments earlier was presented as shikigami food.

Later Pandemonium creatures continue serving primarily as supernatural food, although familiar transformations can immediately revive Shinpachi's attachment.

Pandemonium can alter its sex and outward appearance. The individual encountered by Shinpachi changes from a grotesque creature into an attractive female form after their accidental kiss.

The species is edible and is described by Gedoumaru as a favored snack of shikigami.

Pandemonium creatures otherwise possess no major combat abilities established in the series. Their unusual biology and transformation are their defining traits.

Pandemonium appears during the contest between the Ketsuno and Shirino sides in the Diviner arc. One round requires participants to eat the creatures.

Shinpachi is horrified by the assignment and accidentally kisses his Pandemonium rather than simply eating it. The creature transforms, and Shinpachi immediately becomes infatuated, temporarily abandoning his usual role as the rational observer of other characters' absurdity.

The species later reappears in supernatural contexts, including as food supplied by Gedoumaru.

During the Silver Soul conflict, Pandemonium creatures are brought as provisions for Earth's defenders, and the sight of a familiar attractive form again changes Shinpachi's willingness to eat them.

Shimura Shinpachi accidentally kisses a Pandemonium during the Diviner competition and becomes intensely attracted to its female transformation.

Gedoumaru identifies Pandemonium as food favored by shikigami and later supplies the creatures as provisions.

Kagura participates alongside Shinpachi during the contest in which Pandemonium is introduced.
