Personality
Personality
Omasu is kind, attentive and protective of the people she considers family. She is particularly concerned about Misao's safety, though she understands that trying to restrain the determined young kunoichi is often futile.
Her domestic work at the Aoiya fits naturally alongside her loyalty to the Oniwabanshuu. The organization has become as much a household as a covert unit, and Omasu's conduct reflects that transition.
When danger appears, she is neither helpless nor hesitant. Her caring disposition coexists with the discipline and combat readiness developed through her shinobi training.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Omasu fights using two large basket-like discs. Their broad surfaces allow them to function defensively as shields, while their shape also permits her to throw them as oversized shuriken.
She possesses standard Oniwabanshuu shinobi training and can participate in coordinated combat with her companions. Her unusual weapons make her useful both for protecting allies and striking opponents from outside ordinary melee range.
Her ability to help defeat the Owl Clan attackers demonstrates that her years of peaceful life at the Aoiya have not erased her practical fighting experience.
Story Role
Story Role
Omasu is introduced as part of the Aoiya household when Misao returns to Kyoto. She performs ordinary duties around the inn while remaining connected to Okina's surviving Oniwabanshuu network.
When Shishio sends the Owl Clan to investigate and attack the Aoiya, Omasu joins her comrades in defeating them. The incident foreshadows the much more serious attack that follows.
During the Juppongatana assault, Omasu helps defend the Aoiya alongside the other Kyoto Oniwabanshuu and Kenshin's allies. She is injured as the defenders endure successive battles, but survives the attack and remains with the Aoiya group.
Relationships
Relationships
Misao Makimachi was raised around Omasu and the other Aoiya residents. Omasu cares deeply about her safety while respecting her determination.
Nenji Kashiwazaki is Omasu's senior within the Oniwabanshuu and the person under whom she works at the Aoiya.
Ochika, Shirojou and Kurojo are Omasu's fellow Kyoto Oniwabanshuu and longtime coworkers.
Aoshi Shinomori is connected to Omasu through their shared Oniwabanshuu background and through his importance to Misao and Okina.
