Momoe Hamaguchi

Momoe is sociable, cheerful and interested in romance. She and Junko frequently discuss boys and tease Asuka about the attention she receives, providing a more ordinary school-life perspective within Duel Academy.

She is a loyal friend despite her tendency toward gossip and teasing. Momoe regularly accompanies Asuka and supports her during personal difficulties rather than treating their friendship as merely social convenience.

Momoe can also be excitable and easily impressed, particularly by attractive or talented male students. Her comparatively carefree personality contrasts with Asuka's more serious and independent temperament.

Momoe is a trained Duel Academy student and therefore understands Duel Monsters, although the anime gives relatively little attention to her individual Deck or competitive ability.

She participates in organized dueling activities, including Tag Duels, and frequently partners with Junko. The pair are capable enough to remain active Obelisk Blue students, the academy's highest-ranking dormitory.

Video-game adaptations expand her dueling role considerably and provide several Deck configurations, but those game-specific strategies should not automatically be treated as her established anime Deck.

Momoe appears early in Judai's first year as one of Asuka's closest companions. She and Junko frequently accompany Asuka around the academy and participate in the everyday student life surrounding the larger supernatural conflicts.

Her role remains primarily supportive, but her continued presence helps establish Asuka's social life independently of Judai and the Osiris Red students. Momoe also appears during school competitions and other academy events.

During Darkness's final assault on Duel Academy, Momoe is among the students drawn into the spreading darkness as Trueman systematically overwhelms the academy.

Asuka Tenjouin is one of Momoe's closest friends. Momoe regularly accompanies Asuka Tenjouin and takes an enthusiastic interest in her friend's romantic prospects.

Junko Makurada is Momoe's other closest companion. Junko Makurada and Momoe are frequently seen together and often function as a pair in both social scenes and dueling activities.

Judai Yuki becomes familiar to Momoe through his friendship and rivalry with Asuka and the other prominent Duel Academy students.
