Moeka Kiryuu

Moeka is painfully shy and uncomfortable with spoken conversation. Even while standing beside someone, she often prefers sending a text message to answering aloud. Her phone functions almost as an emotional shield, and attempts to take it from her provoke immediate distress.

In text she becomes dramatically more expressive, sending messages rapidly and communicating thoughts she struggles to voice. Her social isolation leaves her intensely vulnerable to anyone offering belonging, approval or a sense of purpose.

That need for connection lies beneath much of her behavior. Her dependence on the person she knows as FB becomes so extreme that she places FB's instructions above her relationships with the laboratory members.

Moeka has no supernatural powers. She is physically capable, observant and far more dangerous than her withdrawn civilian demeanor initially suggests.

As a Rounder, she is trained to use firearms and participate in SERN operations. Her cell phone serves as the primary means through which she receives orders from FB, making the device both a practical tool and the focus of her emotional dependence.

She also retains memories from other world lines to a limited degree under certain circumstances, reflecting the broader phenomenon in which strong memories can persist as faint impressions despite world-line reconstruction.

Moeka enters the laboratory's orbit while searching for an IBN 5100 and becomes Lab Member 005. Okabe eventually allows her to send a D-Mail related to the computer, producing another change to the Alpha world line.

Her reserved behavior keeps her motives difficult to read as the laboratory continues experimenting with the PhoneWave.

Moeka is a Rounder working for SERN and participates in the raid on the Future Gadget Laboratory that repeatedly leads to Mayuri's death. Her D-Mail was sent to obtain the IBN 5100 for FB rather than for the reason she originally gave Okabe.

When Okabe later attempts to undo her D-Mail, he discovers the depth of Moeka's dependence on FB and eventually learns that FB is Yuugo Tennouji. Reversing the consequences of Moeka's message becomes one of the steps required to escape the Alpha attractor field.

Rintarou Okabe brings Moeka into the Future Gadget Laboratory after meeting her during the search for the IBN 5100. They later become enemies during his attempts to reverse the Alpha-world-line changes, before reaching a more complicated understanding.

Yuugo Tennouji is FB, the Rounder handler whose messages give Moeka the sense of belonging she desperately seeks.

Mayuri Shiina treats Moeka kindly after she joins the lab. Moeka nevertheless participates in the Rounder operation responsible for Mayuri's repeated deaths in Alpha world lines.

Rintarou Okabe later works with Moeka again in Steins;Gate 0, where circumstances on the Beta world line place her investigative abilities on his side.
