Mizaistom Nana

Mizaistom is deliberate, observant and governed by a strong sense of responsibility. He generally listens before acting and attempts to understand an opponent's position even when he strongly distrusts them. This restraint does not make him passive; perceived corruption or deliberate obstruction can provoke intense anger.

He is especially suspicious of Pariston Hill. Mizaistom questions the increase in missing Hunters during Pariston's vice-chairmanship and consistently treats his political maneuvering as a danger to the Association.

Mizaistom is pragmatic enough to use deception when an investigation requires it. His moral code is therefore not based on rigid honesty so much as accountability: he is prepared to employ questionable methods when necessary but accepts responsibility for them.

As a Double-Star Crime Hunter and Zodiac, Mizaistom ranks among the Hunter Association's most accomplished professionals. His specialties include criminal investigation, deduction, law, security management and information analysis.

His Nen ability is Cross Game, a technique centered on three colored cards. The blue card admits a target to his metaphorical "courtroom," the yellow card imposes restraint, and the red card dismisses the target. When a warned target ignores his yellow card, Mizaistom can immobilize them inside a box-like restraint. He can apply the technique to multiple people.

His exact natural Nen category has not been established. Beyond the ability itself, Mizaistom demonstrates strong perception and the ability to react quickly during confrontations.

Mizaistom first becomes prominent during the 13th Hunter Chairman Election. He participates in the Zodiacs' debates over the election rules and emerges as one of the more successful candidates while simultaneously trying to prevent Pariston from taking control of the Association.

Mizaistom eventually withdraws from the election and supports Cheadle, attempting to consolidate opposition to Pariston. Pariston nevertheless wins before immediately resigning and transferring leadership to Cheadle.

The announcement of Beyond Netero's expedition subsequently shifts Mizaistom's attention toward the Dark Continent. He becomes part of the Zodiacs' Intelligence Team and plays a central role in investigating Beyond's organization and the possibility that an infiltrator is operating among the Zodiacs.

After Kurapika joins the Zodiacs, his information leads Mizaistom to identify Saiyu as the suspected mole. Mizaistom deliberately postpones acting against him so that the group can use the situation strategically.

Aboard the Black Whale, Mizaistom becomes deeply involved in maintaining security on the lower tiers as murders, Mafia conflicts and the Succession Contest place increasing pressure on the ship's law-enforcement system.

Isaac Netero selected Mizaistom as a Zodiac. Mizaistom respects the former chairman deeply and takes the responsibilities left to the Zodiacs seriously.

Cheadle Yorkshire is Mizaistom's close political ally and later the chairman he advises. Both favor institutional stability and oppose Pariston's methods.

Pariston Hill is Mizaistom's principal political adversary during the chairman election. Mizaistom distrusts his motives and openly challenges his conduct as vice chairman.

Kurapika becomes an important investigative partner after joining the Zodiacs. Their complementary analytical abilities make them central to uncovering security threats surrounding the expedition.

Beyond Netero is one of the principal subjects of Mizaistom's investigation and security responsibilities during preparations for the Dark Continent voyage.

Saiyu is identified by Kurapika as the likely infiltrator within the Zodiacs, leading Mizaistom to develop a plan for monitoring and eventually neutralizing him.

Botobai Gigante shares Mizaistom's background in law enforcement and works with him on security matters connected to the Black Whale.
