Personality
Personality
Midori is competitive, attention-seeking and extremely sensitive to whether other people acknowledge her ability. She arrives at Mizusawa wanting to establish herself immediately and proposes measuring the members by their match results.
Her need for praise makes integrating into the club difficult. When attention shifts toward less experienced recruits, Midori can react badly because she expects her Class A accomplishments to distinguish her from the beginners.
Outside the club, she is comparatively isolated and is seen practicing karuta by herself. That contrast gives her abrasive behavior a more personal dimension: much of her boasting is tied to a strong desire to have her ability noticed.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Midori is already Class A when she enters Mizusawa, an exceptional level for a first-year student. She comes from the Tamaru family, whose players have a reputation for irritating opponents with persistent small talk and disrupting their concentration.
Her hand speed is particularly dangerous on cards within comfortable reach. She can take nearby cards extraordinarily quickly and sometimes collect cards she was not specifically targeting.
Her smaller physical reach creates a weakness against cards deep in an opponent's territory. She compensates with speed and opportunism on the portions of the layout she can attack effectively.
Story Role
Story Role
Midori joins Mizusawa with Togo Namida, Miku Hara and Souta Hashidate as the club's third generation of recruits. Her Class A rank immediately complicates the internal order because she has stronger formal credentials than several senior members.
Midori develops into one of Mizusawa's principal competitive players after the original generation begins moving on from high school. She also advances deep into the Queen qualification tournament, demonstrating that her confidence is backed by genuine elite-level potential.
Her arrival forces the club to confront a new problem: integrating a talented player who does not need basic instruction but does need to learn how to function within Mizusawa's team culture.
Relationships
Relationships
Takeshi Tamaru is Midori's older brother and another Class A player. The siblings share the Tamaru family's disruptive conversational approach to matches.
Chihaya Ayase is Midori's senior at Mizusawa and one of the players against whom she measures her own ability. Their competitive paths later intersect directly during Queen qualification.
Tsutomu Komano, Yusei Nishida, Kanade Oe, Sumire Hanano and Akihiro Tsukuba are senior club members when Midori arrives.
Togo Namida, Miku Hara and Souta Hashidate join Mizusawa in the same intake as Midori.
Midori Sakurazawa is admired by Midori's parents, who named their daughter after the Fujisaki coach.
