Mei Toda

Mei receives little individual characterization outside Homei's team activities. Her role is principally that of a club member training and competing within the stronger environment created under Tsuboguchi.

The series does not establish enough about her life away from karuta to support more specific personality traits.

Mei is a competitive high-school karuta player. Training at Homei under Tsuboguchi gives her access to structured practice and an adviser with substantial experience in Class A competition.

No individual rank or signature playing technique is firmly established for Mei.

Mei appears as Homei's karuta program becomes more prominent in Tokyo competition. The club's improvement gives Mizusawa another serious regional opponent beyond its longstanding rivalry with Hokuo.

Homei eventually defeats Mizusawa in regional team competition, demonstrating that the club's development under its new adviser has produced meaningful results.

Hiroshi Tsuboguchi coaches Mei as adviser to the Homei High School Karuta Club.

Suzuka Sasa is Homei's Class A ace and one of Mei's strongest teammates.

Eita Takei, Kenjiro Mori and Megumi Nanami are fellow Homei players who compete within the same school program.
