Makoto Kasahara

Kasahara is stoic and pragmatic. He speaks little during the operation against Sojo and maintains a controlled expression even while enduring serious attacks, contrasting with some of the more expressive personalities within Hagiwara's squad.

He remains focused on his assigned role rather than celebrating prematurely. Even when the squad appears to gain an advantage over Sojo, Kasahara concentrates on securing Cloud Gouger and reporting the situation to his teammates.

Kasahara is an elite sorcerer trusted to participate in a specialized operation against an Enchanted Blade wielder. Like accomplished sorcerers generally, he can reinforce his body with spirit energy, giving him physical capabilities beyond those of an ordinary person.

His personal sorcery allows him to enlarge and reshape his hands. The enlarged hands can strike with enough force to crater the ground, making them effective heavy melee weapons. Kasahara can also alter their shape after enlargement, allowing him to form restraints around an opponent.

Against Sojo, Kasahara uses this ability to seize his arm and interfere with his control of Cloud Gouger. The technique complements the Anti-Cloud Gouger squad's strategy of restricting Sojo's movements and separating him from the blade rather than attempting to overpower its abilities individually.

Kasahara joins Hagiwara, Kazane Machi, Hajime Kugara, Shiyumi Harima, and Kiyohiko Uzuki in the Anti-Cloud Gouger Special Forces. The Kamunabi forms the unit after recognizing Sojo and Cloud Gouger as a threat requiring a coordinated response.

The squad studies the three known abilities of Cloud Gouger and develops counters around the weapon's limitations. Kasahara participates directly in their attempt to overwhelm Sojo after forcing him to expend Mei, using his enlarged hands to restrain him and help separate him from the sword.

Although the squad succeeds temporarily in taking Cloud Gouger away from Sojo, he uses Mei's power on himself to achieve an explosive increase in speed and counterattacks. Kasahara is among the squad members killed as Sojo breaks through their formation.

Ikuto Hagiwara is Kasahara's commander in the Anti-Cloud Gouger Special Forces. Kasahara follows his battle plan during the operation against Sojo.

Kazane Machi, Hajime Kugara, Shiyumi Harima, and Kiyohiko Uzuki are Kasahara's fellow members of the specialized Kamunabi squad. Their different abilities are coordinated to compensate for the enormous advantage provided by an Enchanted Blade.

Genichi Sojo is the target of Kasahara's squad. Kasahara directly grapples with him and helps contest his possession of Cloud Gouger during their battle.
