Kuronue

Kuronue is portrayed as a capable and trusted partner rather than merely another member of Kurama's old criminal circle. His easy coordination with Kurama indicates that the two had fought and stolen together often enough to understand each other's movements.

He also possesses a strong attachment to the pendant he carries. That attachment becomes the defining element of Kurama's memory of their final mission together.

Kuronue's characterization comes almost entirely from the second Yu Yu Hakusho film and therefore belongs to its anime-original continuity rather than Yoshihiro Togashi's manga narrative.

Kuronue is an agile demon capable of aerial movement using his bat-like wings. His speed makes him well suited to both combat and the theft operations he conducted with Yoko Kurama.

He fights with a distinctive pendant or blade attached to a chain, swinging it as a long-range weapon. The chain allows him to strike from changing angles while remaining mobile.

As an experienced Demon World thief, Kuronue also demonstrates the stealth and physical coordination necessary to infiltrate guarded locations alongside Kurama.

Kuronue's history is shown through Kurama's memories in Poltergeist Report. During an earlier theft, he and Yoko Kurama flee through a bamboo trap after stealing valuable treasure.

Kuronue's pendant becomes caught during their escape. He turns back for it despite Kurama urging him to continue, and the trap impales him with bamboo spears. Kurama is forced to leave his partner behind.

Later, Kaiki assumes Kuronue's appearance as part of a psychological attack against Kurama. The deception forces Kurama to confront the guilt attached to his former partner before recognizing that the apparent reunion is false.

Yoko Kurama is Kuronue's former partner in theft and the person most deeply affected by his fate.

Kurama, Yoko's human incarnation, retains the memories of his partnership with Kuronue.

Kaiki uses Kuronue's appearance to manipulate Kurama during the events of Poltergeist Report.
