Kumo Oni Haha

Kumo Oni Haha initially appears callous and sadistic, using living Demon Slayers as disposable puppets even when the movements she forces upon them dislocate limbs or cause fatal injuries. She is willing to kill controlled swordsmen once they cease being useful and treats them as tools rather than people.

That cruelty exists alongside extreme fear. Rui demands that she behave according to the role he has assigned her, while Spider Demon Father also physically abuses her. Her terror of further punishment becomes strong enough to override her desire to survive.

Her original form and lingering memories reveal that she is a relatively young demon who still retains fragments of human emotion. In her final moments, Tanjiro's compassion reminds her of someone who once treated her kindly.

As a demon, Kumo Oni Haha possesses enhanced physical resilience and regeneration. Rui's blood also strengthens her and enables the bodily alterations needed to resemble the other members of the artificial Spider Family.

Her primary combat ability is thread puppetry. She spreads nearly invisible threads over a large area of Mount Natagumo and uses small spider-like creatures to attach them to targets. Once connected, she can manipulate a person's limbs remotely, forcing them to fight regardless of injury or resistance.

The technique allows her to turn groups of Demon Slayers against one another while she remains far from the battlefield. She also maintains control over a powerful headless demon puppet armed with blade-like appendages, giving her a stronger combatant when ordinary human puppets prove insufficient.

Kumo Oni Haha is one of the first major threats encountered by Tanjiro Kamado and Inosuke Hashibira after they enter Mount Natagumo. They discover numerous Demon Slayers being forcibly controlled through threads, with Murata among the few still capable of resisting.

Tanjiro and Inosuke work together to disable her puppets without killing their fellow swordsmen and then locate their hidden controller. When the increasingly desperate demon realizes her defenses are collapsing, fear of Rui's punishment becomes more terrifying to her than the Demon Slayers pursuing her.

When Tanjiro reaches her, she deliberately stops resisting. Realizing that she has surrendered and wants release from her suffering, Tanjiro changes his attack to Water Breathing, Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought, a technique intended to kill without pain. Before disappearing, she repays his mercy by warning him that one of the Twelve Kizuki is on the mountain.

Rui forces Kumo Oni Haha to act as the mother in his imitation family. Their relationship is based almost entirely on fear rather than affection. Rui repeatedly punishes her when she fails to conform to the appearance or behavior he expects.

Spider Demon Father is assigned the role of her husband. He is not actually related to her and physically abuses her, contributing heavily to her terror of remaining within the family.

Spider Demon Daughter and Spider Demon Son play her supposed children, although none of the Spider Family members are biologically related.

Tanjiro Kamado begins as her enemy but becomes the final person to show her compassion. His decision to give her a painless death restores a fragment of her human memories and prompts her to warn him about Rui.

Inosuke Hashibira helps Tanjiro trace her location and dismantle the puppet network protecting her.
