Kengo's Mother Dojun

Kengo's mother is shown as warm and close to her son. Their birthday outing depicts an ordinary family relationship before the accident that later dominates Kengo's memories of her.

The series provides little additional characterization because her appearances occur primarily through Kengo's recollections. Her narrative importance therefore lies less in independent actions than in the emotional significance she holds for him.

She becomes the clearest personal reason behind Kengo's distrust of autonomous artificial intelligence.

Kengo's mother is an ordinary human with no established dueling Deck, LINK VRAINS avatar or supernatural abilities.

Her story is instead tied to Den City's increasing reliance on artificial intelligence and automated technology. The consequences of a malfunction involving that technology become personally significant to Kengo.

No canon material establishes her as a duelist or participant in the conflicts involving the Ignis.

Kengo remembers celebrating his mother's birthday with her before the two enter an AI-controlled taxi. Their journey is interrupted after the automated system malfunctions around the scene of another traffic accident.

The resulting crash severely injures both of them, with Kengo losing part of his body and his mother left hospitalized and unresponsive. Her condition becomes one of the defining experiences behind Kengo's hatred and distrust of artificial intelligence.

The flashback provides personal context for Blood Shepherd's aggressive pursuit of AI targets. Rather than viewing the Ignis debate as an abstract technological question, Kengo associates autonomous AI with the event that devastated his family.

Kengo Dojun is her son. The automated-vehicle accident that injures Kengo Dojun and leaves his mother hospitalized becomes a major reason Kengo Dojun develops an intense hostility toward artificial intelligence.

Emma Bessho is connected to the family through Kengo Dojun. Emma Bessho is Kengo Dojun's younger half-sister, making Kengo's mother her stepmother rather than her biological mother.
