Keiko Yuube

Keiko is honest, direct and somewhat boyish in manner. She does not treat Megumu simply as an untouchable ace; she regards her as a rival as well as a teammate.

That competitive outlook distinguishes her within Akashi's roster. She can support the team's collective goal while retaining an individual desire to measure herself against its strongest player.

Keiko is a Class A player, placing her among the strongest high-school competitors in the ordinary ranking system. She is trusted with important matches during Akashi's national-championship run.

She also competes in the national individual Class A tournament. Chihaya faces her while forced to play with her non-dominant left hand because of an injury, yet Keiko pushes the match to a narrow two-card margin.

Keiko also defeats Yusei Nishida by seven cards during the team semifinal, providing Akashi with one of its individual victories.

Keiko becomes prominent during Akashi First Girls' semifinal against Mizusawa. Her victory over Nishida helps keep the overall result uncertain while the teams fight across all five boards.

The following day, she is drawn against Chihaya in the first round of the Class A individual tournament. Chihaya's injured right hand forces her to play left-handed, making Keiko the opponent against whom she must immediately adapt her entire physical approach.

Chihaya eventually wins by only two cards, using the unfamiliar experience to recognize weaknesses in the way she normally plays.

Megumu Ousaka is Keiko's teammate and personal rival. Keiko recognizes Megumu Ousaka as Akashi's ace without abandoning her desire to compete with her.

Yusei Nishida faces Keiko during the national team semifinal, where Keiko wins their board.

Chihaya Ayase faces Keiko in the opening round of the national Class A individual tournament.

Kokoro Nanase, Natsuki Tanimura and Nene Hayasaka are fellow members of Akashi First Girls' competitive lineup.
