Little of Kate's original personality is established. Noh Mask's account presents her as a street performer who uses her ability for entertainment rather than violence.

Her choice of occupation suggests that she originally regarded her portals as a performance tool rather than a means of combat. Beyond this glimpse of her life, the manga provides little direct characterization from Kate herself.

Kate's Portal ability lets her move objects through holes in her body. Something entering one opening can disappear and reappear at another location.

The natural version of the power operates on a relatively small scale and requires the openings associated with her body.

After Kate is forced into Chaos, the ability expands enormously. She can produce large portals capable of transporting people across great distances without requiring them to physically enter one of the small openings she originally used.

Kate's history is explained when Tokio reaches the Tower of Mourning through an unnatural portal and encounters Noh Mask.

Noh Mask reveals that Kate's original ability was too weak for the transportation system he wanted, so he deliberately forced her into Chaos. Her transformed body becomes the biological foundation of the large portals he uses to travel between distant locations.

Kate consequently becomes one of the clearest examples of Noh Mask's willingness to destroy another Choujin's ordinary life in order to exploit the potential of their ability.

Noh Mask discovers Kate and recognizes the potential of her Portal ability. He deliberately drives Kate into Chaos and subsequently uses her transformed body as a transportation system.

Tokio Kurohara encounters the horrifying result of Kate's transformation after being transported to the Tower of Mourning through one of her portals.
