Jige Zi

Jige Zi is gentle toward Bo Zi but possesses considerable resolve. Years of mistreatment do not make her abandon the person closest to her, and she remains unwavering about whom she loves even when powerful men attempt to decide her future.

Her bond with Bo Zi is rooted in their shared childhood. Both lose their mothers and experience hostility within the Earl Shi household, leaving them dependent on one another for emotional support.

Jige Zi is not portrayed as a warrior and has no established combat techniques. Her importance comes from her position within the Shi household and from the consequences her treatment has for some of Wei's most powerful generals.

She does display notable personal courage. When confronted with demands concerning her feelings for Bo Zi, she refuses to deny them even under extreme pressure.

Jige Zi's story is revealed through flashbacks explaining the collapse of the original Seven Fire Dragons. She and Bo Zi seek permission to marry, and Bo Zi is prepared to surrender even his prestigious military title to remain with her.

While Bo Zi is away on campaign, the previous Earl Shi arranges Jige Zi's marriage to Tai Ro Ji, one of the Seven Fire Dragons. Tai Ro Ji demands that she abandon her love for Bo Zi; she refuses, and he kills her.

Her death causes Bo Zi to kill the previous Earl Shi and then wage war against Tai Ro Ji and his allies. The resulting bloodshed tears apart the Seven Fire Dragons and leads to Bo Zi, Ling Huang and Kai Meng being imprisoned for fourteen years.

Bo Zi is Jige Zi's stepbrother and lover. They grow up relying on each other and intend to marry despite opposition from their household.

Shi Tai is Jige Zi's stepfather and the previous holder of the Earl Shi title. He deliberately separates her from Bo Zi and arranges her marriage to Tai Ro Ji.

Tai Ro Ji becomes Jige Zi's husband through the arranged marriage. He kills her when she refuses to surrender her love for Bo Zi.
