Hirata

Hirata is confident and somewhat flirtatious when he meets Aileen. Recognizing her as a famous model, he readily agrees to spend time with her and boasts that he is good at games ranging from ball sports to chess.

His confidence makes Aileen's challenge attractive rather than suspicious. Hirata even proposes a date as his reward if he wins, demonstrating that he initially treats the encounter as playful competition.

Little of his personality is shown beyond this meeting, as his primary purpose is to demonstrate the danger associated with Aileen's games.

Hirata is an accomplished soccer player representing Japan at national-team level, establishing him as an elite athlete.

He also claims broad experience with games and agrees to play Raijinhai, a strategy game resembling shogi. His confidence suggests familiarity with competitive games, although he is unable to overcome Aileen.

Hirata possesses no supernatural abilities. The consequences he experiences after the game result from Aileen's hypnotic suggestion rather than any physical power contained in Raijinhai itself.

Hirata appears at the beginning of Aileen's introduction. After meeting her, he accepts a game of Raijinhai under an unusual wager: if he wins, she will go on a date with him, while losing means surrendering the thing most important to him.

Aileen defeats Hirata and uses hypnotic suggestion to convince him that he has lost what matters most to him. He is subsequently shown hospitalized, creating the impression that her games have physically devastating consequences.

The incident establishes the stakes before Aileen challenges Yugi and threatens something personally important to him.

Aileen Rao challenges Hirata shortly after arriving in Japan. He confidently accepts her wager, but she defeats him and uses hypnotic suggestion to make him believe he has lost the thing he values most.

Yugi Mutou does not directly compete with Hirata, but Hirata's earlier match establishes the danger Yugi Mutou faces when he later accepts Aileen Rao's challenge.
