Harold

Harold is friendly, generous and optimistic. Before the Wall Maria operation, he uses extra Survey Corps funds to obtain meat for the soldiers, an exceptional luxury after years of scarcity.

His decision is intended to raise morale and give the Scouts a proper celebration before a mission everyone understands will be dangerous.

Harold also appears somewhat trusting. He expects the soldiers to behave themselves around the rare meal and believes information about the expedition can remain controlled despite the excitement surrounding it.

Harold is an experienced Survey Corps soldier and team leader.

His rank indicates proficiency with ODM gear, Titan combat and the command responsibilities required to direct other soldiers during expeditions.

He serves within Hange's Fourth Squad, placing him within an operational unit led by one of the regiment's most experienced officers.

Harold participates in preparations for the mission to reclaim Wall Maria. He helps organize the Scouts' pre-expedition celebration and announces the meal to the assembled soldiers.

The presence of meat triggers an enthusiastic response among recruits who have rarely eaten it since the loss of Wall Maria.

Harold later joins the Survey Corps expedition to Shiganshina as one of its team leaders.

He participates in the Battle of Shiganshina and is among the numerous Survey Corps personnel lost during the operation.
