He is familiar with firearms, prisoner transport, and the procedure used to transform condemned Eldians into Pure Titans on Paradis.

Gross first encounters the young Grisha Yeager and Faye Yeager after they leave Liberio without permission to watch an airship.

Gross takes Faye away and later allows his sons' dogs to maul the eight-year-old girl to death. The authorities conceal what happened.

Years later, Gross participates in transporting the captured Eldian Restorationists to Paradis.

He reveals Faye's true fate to Grisha while preparing to have another prisoner eaten by a Titan. Eren Kruger then exposes himself as the Owl and pushes Gross from the Wall, where a Titan devours him.
